Miniature Paintings

Beautiful and exquisite, these are paintings made on silken cloth, antique paper or marble.  Skilled artisans complete these miniature marvels by  using tiny brushes some as fine as a single squirrel hair! These are done entirely  by hand and depending on the  detail can take as much as a month to complete! In fact, the smaller and finer the detail, the more rare and expensive they are. The paintings done below, are so fine  that it is almost impossible to fathom the intricate detail in an ordinary picture. Placed below is an enlargement of one of these miniatures with an ordinary needle and thread in the foreground to give you an idea of the detail. Notice the fine brush stroke of the eye brow ! Compare it with the millimeter scale on the left. The eyebrow is only about 1/8th of a millimeter in thickness! The background design you see is the natural fine weave of the silken cloth!
